Modern slaves in care homes: CQC report!

Reading through the disappointing Care Quality Commission's 2023/4 report on adult social care, published today, came across the shocking statement: we made 106 referrals...regarding concerns about modern slavery and labour exploitation - nearly three times as many as last year.

So much for the care regulator caring about vulnerable people in care - or for those looking after them.


It should be remembered, eight out of ten adult care beds are privately owned - many by large 'care' groups.


The entire care industry boasts about its professional and caring workforce. This suggests very little care is taken over who is being employed - either for the sake of the residents or the staff themselves. Reading on...more to follow
